Godwin, you were truly an angel who walked amidst men.
To you, I light an eternal candle of gratitude for all you did for me and my family. You were my Driver as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, but you were the anchorpoint of my endeavors during my tour of duty. You were loyal, faithful and dependable. You were the welcoming face at Madrid Airport to receive me upon arrival and the last hand I would shake prior to every departure. we went everywhere together. you would even go with me to the dentist, being aware of my pathological fear of the dentist’s chair. You were always there for my children whenever I was away from Madrid, making sure things worked smoothly. Even as I returned to Nigeria, you would call me almost every other day from Madrid to know how I was doing, and whether I needed your assistance in any way. ‘I can handle it’, was your mantra. And you always did.
For so much, so, so much, uncountable and immeasurable, for always standing patiently in the rain with your large umbrella to make sure I never got wet, God will surely do the same for you In His eternal Kingdom. Godwin, you are irreplaceable. You were the guardian angel God sent to accompany me on my mission in Madrid. The Embassy of Nigeria in Spain has lost its most faithful and hardworking employee. You were a shining light, Godwin. For the illumination you brought into all our lives, I lift my teary eyes to heaven in prayer. May Our Saviour shine his light perpetual upon your kind and gentle soul. May He secure for you a special place in His paradise as you re-unite with His angels, of whom you were one, whom in His infinite generosity He sent into this world for a brief season, and whom we were privileged to have in our midst, bringing into our lives so much joy and meaning.
