REMEMBER YOUR ORIGIN – GHANAIAN CHIEF TELLS DIASPORA COMMUNITY IN USA

The paramount chief of Breman traditional area of the central region of Ghana, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII has given a clarion call to the Ghanaian community in the United States of America and to Africans in Diaspora to always remember their roots. More especially, to let their children born in Diaspora to know about their origin. The young monarch who was on a visit to USA made the call during a reception party organized for him by the Ghanaian community in Chicago on June 11,2017.
Odeefuo Buadu who spoke to TheSay News foreign correspondent during the ocassion expressed his gratitude to Mmrantie Association and the Ghanaian community in Chicago for the grand reception and recognition accorded to him.

The chief whose presence is like a gold fish in water whose appearance cannot be hidden, said that he was overwhelmed by the welcome given to him because he thought that he would have entered and left the USA un-noticed. But to his surprise, right from the airport the news about his visit spread like a wild fire. He commended the Diaspora community for their spirit of love and unity and urged them to continue. And promised to take their goodwill messages back home saying that his palace is open to them whenever they come home.

Our correspondent also spoke to the president of the Mmrantie Association, Edward Owusu who highlighted on some of the activities of his Association and how they’ve been able to make useful impact to their members and people back home. He stated that they organize town hall meetings to guide and educate their members and their children on the need to have a meaningful education that will enable them fit in the American system.
They also mobilize and support development projects at home and have donated hospital equipments to improve the health care system to some hospitals back home.
Though an NGO, they also make inputs to politicians on the need for good governance.

Responding on how they’ve been able to connect with the high profile Ghanaian community who have distinguished themselves in various fields and careers in the USA .
Owusu expressed that they’ve been having some difficulties in identifying and reaching out to most of them as many of them don’t belong or join their community Associations through which they could be known and identified with their people. He therefore called on the distinguished Ghanaians of the Diaspora community to come out and identify with their own as to give back to Ghana what it gave to them.
