Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy injured in stone pelting incident during election campaign

Story highlights

CM Jagan was immediately provided first-aid on the bus.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was on Saturday (Apr 13) evening hit by stones during an election campaign in Vijayawada.

The YSR Congress supremo was pelted aboard a bus while he was campaigning as part of his ‘Memantha Siddham’ (we are all ready) bus yatra.

He was greeting people when an unidentified individual hurled stones at him, wounding him on his left eyebrow.

“The stone struck the CM while he was acknowledging the crowds as part of his bus tour at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada,” said a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

CM Jagan was immediately provided first-aid on the bus.

MLA Vellampalli, who was next to Jagan too sustained an injury in his left eye, said the party sources.

The Andhra Pradesh chief minister then continued his campaign after receiving first aid, the sources added.

A video of the incident that has surfaced on social media shows CM Jagan standing atop the vehicle and greeting crowds during the bus yatra.

The footage then shows people standing around him wiping his forehead with a handkerchief initially.
